It's simply a further act of unfriendliness toward China, whose rise the US fears, or at least, is worried about. The spying mission that comes after the disastrous midair collision last weekend testifies to the blind hubris that has been characteristic of the American mindset.

Some American suggested that China should release the spy plane crew and then sue them in World Court if they had committed any crime. If a Chinese had committed a crime in the US, would the American government just let him go and then sue him in the World Court? This is preposterous. The spy crew had violated Chinese law landing in a restricted air base without permission. It would violate Chinese law to just let them go. The Chinese government is bound by its law to prosecute.

Recently America prosecuted the Lippo Bank of Indonesia. The trial was in a US court. Not in the World Court. If America wants to prosecute foreigners in American courts, then how can they expect others to prosecute Americans in World Court?

I support our governent's stand on this issue. I am angry with the remark of US President George W. Bush on this serious event.

In my opinion, I will surport Wang Wei's family to resort to Chinese law to settle this problem if US government does not apologize to our Chinese people.

It is no good to continue the standoff any more.

US should change their hardline stand and apologize. They should be awared of what is at the stake and stop confounding right and wrong.

Hey, US People,

You are right almost all countries conduct such spying flights if they have the means. But unfortunately, you US People has poked your nose too long, 140 km from Chinese territory, but within China's special economic zone on the sea.

Don't you know that the US may open fire on any unidentified planes if they reach within 320 km of American territory?

You arrogant ignorant!!!

The US are acting like the spoiled brats they are in this issue, and should not blame this incident on China. They are in in a uniquely powerful position in todays society, and would do well in showing some respect for the world population outside of their own countrys limits.

Bush must realize that US has been hurting Chinese people's emotion for a long time. If US prefer, Chinese people will accompany US for another large scale war. Chinese people did not yield to any bandit and will never in the future.

I think any friendly and sober US person should know that a good relationship will benefit to both China and USA.

shengiven, shengiven@journalist.com.cn
I think US should make apologise to China, or its crew should be kept in China, or China can be aboard on the EP3 plane to get some information.

Ren Yongzhou, renyzh@coscon.com
It is not enough for US to say regret only, US must apologize for the incident.
