The Austria Pavilion looks like a guitar from a distance; this fits right in with the country's world-famous music heritage. The pavilion allows visitors to experience the country's natural features, including snow-capped mountains, flourishing woods, green grasslands and flowing rivers.

Belgium-EU

Theme: Movement and Interaction

The design of the Belgium-EU Pavilion was inspired by brain cells; this was intended to stress the role science plays in today's cities, as well as symbolizing Belgium's status as the nerve center of Europe's politics, culture and trade. Belgian innovations in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry and nanotechnology are on display in the pavilion. The building also houses the massive European Union Exhibition Hall.

Canada

Theme: The Living City: Inclusive, Sustainable, Creative

The exterior of the Canada Pavilion is composed of 4,000 squares meters of Canadian red cedar. The pavilion's very shape (a large "C") represents Canada, communities and creativity. A wall of evergreen seedlings serves as a backdrop to the pavilion's courtyard. It also operates as a natural biological air filter. Green walls of similar design can be found in cities across Canada. The pavilion is designed to give visitors a glimpse of life in a Canadian city and the diversity, innovation and creativity that make the country unique.
