The Japanese ambassador to China Koreshige Anami was summoned on Sunday by Vice-Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing who expressed China's strong objection to Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visit to Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine Sunday morning.
Gains Reported in Nationwide Anti-drug Campaign
Chinese public security authorities have made "initial achievements" in controlling narcotics since a nationwide campaign was launched in early February with the aim of curbing the production, trafficking and use of ?ice? and ?ecstasy? in entertainment centers, according to sources with the National Narcotics Control Commission.

China Leads World in Aquaculture, UN Official Says
A United Nations agricultural representative visiting in Beijing Thursday said he was impressed with the progress in aquaculture in China which today produces 70.2 percent of the world's farmed fish and other aquaculture products. "China will be a good teacher in aquaculture development to the whole world, especially to developing countries," said Ichiro Nomura, assistant director-general with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

October 6 was an exhilarating day. On the day, 29-year-old Ahdili set a new Guinness record by walking 1,400 meters on a tightwire fastened between two hills without a safety belt.
