Yunnan Starts Hydopower Project
Construction work began on Sunday on what will be China's second largest hydropower station on the international Lancang-Mekong River. Situated in the middle reaches of the river in Dali Bai Ethnic Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province in Southwest China, Xiaowan Hydropower Station will have a total installed generating capacity of 4.2 million kilowatts. It will be second only to the Three Gorges project on the Yangtze River.
