Growing out of the faculty of education at the Imperial University of Peking, which was founded in 1902, Beijing Normal University (BNU) is one of the oldest universities in China. It is a renowned institution of higher learning, which focuses on teacher training, education science and basic learning in arts and sciences. Currently, the university offers 57 undergraduate programs, 166 master's programs and 111 doctoral programs in its 22 academic schools. It also has 18 post-doctoral mobile stations and 74 research laboratories and institutions at various levels.
