Kitchen of China
Located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, Henan boasts highly fertile alluvial soils brought by the Yellow River, hence its fame as the "Central Plains breadbasket." With only 6.2 percent of China's arable land, it produces 10 percent of its grain with a total output exceeding 65 million tons for years. While feeding its over 100 million population – the largest for an agricultural province, it also supplies more than 30 billion kilograms of grain and related products to the rest of the country every year. Henan is a major producer and processer of farm products, providing the most processed food products and meat products among all provinces.
In recent years, Henan has promoted green, high- quality agriculture with leading brands and worked to transform and upgrade the food industry to ensure the supply of major, specialty and competitive farm products such as flour, meat, oil, dairy, fruit, and vegetable. This will help turn the "Central Plains breadbasket" into a "kitchen of China."
In 2022, Henan's flour processing capacity ranked first in China, 80 percent of its grain and oil products were processed, and 65 percent of its staple food products were mass-produced. It boasted the largest scale of pig, chicken, goose and other livestock and poultry farming in the country, and it processed the meat of 88 million pigs, 1.4 billion poultry, and 2.9 million beef cattle, all being the most in China. The total output value of the grain industry surpassed 300 billion yuan. Among that, competitive and specialty agriculture kept growing and accounted for 57.8 percent of the output value. As the green food industry was transforming and upgrading at a faster pace, the number of agro-processing enterprises above the designated scale reached 5,109, whose annual revenue grew 6.4 percent year- on-year. Henan also took over 80 percent of the national market share of instant hot-and-sour rice noodles. As of March 2023, it had 1,169 key enterprises with large scale of agricultural industrialization.
Now, more and more local quality farm products are being exported to the ROK, Japan, the US, Russia, Spain, and other countries and regions. With the development of a number of export-oriented production bases of agricultural specialties with standardized production and large-scale operation, Henan's international competitiveness keeps increasing. The "Central Plains breadbasket" and the "kitchen of China" are now supplying more food on the table of the whole world.

河南位于中原腹地，大部分土地是由黃河沖積而成的肥沃平原，被譽(yù)為“中原糧倉(cāng)”，以占全國(guó)6.2％的耕地，生產(chǎn)了中國(guó)10％的糧食，糧食總產(chǎn)量連續(xù)多年突破6500萬(wàn)噸，不僅養(yǎng)活這個(gè)第一農(nóng)業(yè)人口大省，每年還外調(diào)出原糧及制成品600多億斤。同時(shí)，河南也是重要的農(nóng)產(chǎn)品生產(chǎn)加工大省，是中國(guó)第一糧食加工大省和第一肉制品大省。
近年來(lái)，河南堅(jiān)持質(zhì)量興農(nóng)、綠色興農(nóng)、品牌強(qiáng)農(nóng)，以保障重要和優(yōu)質(zhì)特色農(nóng)產(chǎn)品供給為目標(biāo)，以面制品、肉制品、油制品、乳制品、果蔬制品為重點(diǎn)，持續(xù)推進(jìn)食品業(yè)轉(zhuǎn)型升級(jí)、高質(zhì)量發(fā)展，實(shí)現(xiàn)從“中原糧倉(cāng)”到“國(guó)人廚房”的轉(zhuǎn)變。2022年，河南面制品加工能力居全國(guó)第一位，糧油加工轉(zhuǎn)化率80%，主食產(chǎn)業(yè)化率超過(guò)65%；豬、雞、鵝等畜禽規(guī)模化養(yǎng)殖在國(guó)內(nèi)首屈一指，生豬、家禽、肉牛年屠宰加工能力分別達(dá)8800萬(wàn)頭、14億只、290萬(wàn)頭，均位居全國(guó)前列；糧食產(chǎn)業(yè)總產(chǎn)值突破3000億元，其中，優(yōu)勢(shì)特色農(nóng)業(yè)不斷壯大，產(chǎn)值占比57.8%；綠色食品業(yè)加快轉(zhuǎn)型升級(jí)，規(guī)模以上農(nóng)產(chǎn)品加工企業(yè)5109家，年?duì)I業(yè)收入同比增長(zhǎng)6.4%；方便酸辣粉市場(chǎng)份額占全國(guó)80%以上。截至2023年3月，河南省農(nóng)業(yè)產(chǎn)業(yè)化省級(jí)以上重點(diǎn)龍頭企業(yè)1169家，其中國(guó)家級(jí)102家、省級(jí)1067家。
隨著品質(zhì)的提升，越來(lái)越多河南農(nóng)產(chǎn)品開始漂洋過(guò)海，出口到韓國(guó)、日本、美國(guó)、俄羅斯、西班牙等多個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū)。全省形成了一批特色農(nóng)產(chǎn)品出口生產(chǎn)基地，并實(shí)現(xiàn)了區(qū)域化布局、標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化生產(chǎn)和規(guī)模化經(jīng)營(yíng)，國(guó)際競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力不斷增強(qiáng)，河南由此實(shí)現(xiàn)了由“中原糧倉(cāng)”到“國(guó)人廚房”，再到“世界餐桌”的轉(zhuǎn)變。
