The exercise, the seventh of its kind organized by SCO members in recent years, successfully showcased SCO member states' mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation as well as their shared wish to protect regional peace and stability and to boost common development and prosperity.

During the 15-day joint drill, 5,000 troops from five SCO members, namely Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan (Uzbekistan is not participating), had practiced a variety of maneuvers, deepened their friendship and improved their military cooperation.

From strategic negotiations to live military drills, from Almaty to the Matybulak Range, the participating troops revealed their determination and strength to combat the "Three Evil Forces" -- terrorism, separatism and extremism -- and maintain peace, security and stability in the region.

At 10:15 a.m. local time (0415 GMT) on Sept. 10, the chiefs of the general staff of the armed forces of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan ordered the start of the drill.

Ahead of the drill, the chiefs held strategic talks to discuss regional and international security, especially within the SCO region, and cooperation on security defense focusing on anti-terrorism.

On Sept. 13, the drills entered the second phase at the Matybulak Range, where a ceremony for the new phase was held.
