| A new regulation in Shanghai which aims to cool the booming property market will prevent residents from purchasing more than one home within a certain period of time, the Oriental Morning Post reported. The regulation, which went into effect Thursday, is regarded as preparation for the city property tax that will begin in January. People who do not comply with the regulation will not be able to register their new homes. |

| Nanjing resident Zhu felt troubled recently because her nanny requested triple pay to work during the national holidays and demanded paid leave, the Jiefang Daily reported. Officials said only people who are protected by the labor law can enjoy extra pay during holidays. So if the nanny is a full-time employee of a housekeeping service company with a staffing structure and has signed a labor contract with the company, then she can have paid leave and double or triple pay. |

| A college student in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, was arrested in June after buying drugs for his former middle-school teacher, Chengdu Evening News reported. Chen Shuang bought 200 yuan of methamphetamine for Li Hua on June 11 to show his appreciation. Local police arrested both shortly after. Prosecutors decided not to charge him with a crime, which would "ruin the boy's college life." Li was fired from his school. |

| A new study from McGill University and the Universite de Montreal shows that traffic-related air pollution may put women at risk for breast cancer, the Edmonton Journal reported. Researchers charted incidences of breast cancer and compared them with pollution maps. The team says its results were "startling" and showed the incidence of breast cancer increased in areas with higher levels of air pollution. "We found a link between post-menopausal breast cancer and exposure to nitrogen dioxide, which is a marker for traffic-related air pollution," said co-author Mark Goldberg in a press release. "Women living in the areas with the highest levels of pollution were almost twice as likely to develop breast cancer as those living in the least polluted areas." |

| Condom manufacturer Jissbon has been accused of price fraud, the West China Metropolis Daily reported. According to Wang Hai, who's known as a fake-goods vigilante, Jissbon sells its 49-yuan condom under the brand of Manix as high as 98 yuan while it costs only 2 yuan to produce. |
