中國流動人口達2.21億

The number of people living in a different place than that of their household registration reached 221 million in China in 2010, Xinhua reports.

據新華社報道，周一，國家人口和計劃生育委員會主任李斌表示，去年中國不在戶口注冊地居住的人口達2.21億。其中，1.6億人為農民工，42.8%的人出生在1980年以后。李主任說，在未來30年里，預計另有3億人將從鄉村遷移到城鎮工作生活。

北京八條地鐵同時開建

據新華社電，北京昨日同時啟動8條軌道交通的建設工作，總里程約113.7公里。其中的S1線是中國第一條低速磁懸浮列車。建成以后，中國將成為日本之后第二個擁有低速磁懸浮的國家。S1線預計2013年建成通車，設計時速為100-120公里。

通用在華召回23.3萬輛車

據新華社報道，為修復燃油管缺陷，上海通用汽車公司周一開始在華召回232931輛車。該公司發表聲明表示，此次召回包括2008年9月18日至2010年10月14日生產的133074輛2升、2.4升新君威轎車，以及2009年4月20日至2010年10月14日生產的99857輛2.4升新君越轎車。該類缺陷可使燃油管在極端情況下接頭脫離，導致引擎無法啟動或熄火。漏油也可能引起火花。上海通用汽車售后服務中心將和車主聯系安排維修事宜，中心的800-820-2020也會提供咨詢和預約服務。

Floating population reaches 221 mln

Li Bin, head of the National Population and Family Planning Commission, said Monday that the number of people living in a different place than that of their household registration reached 221 million last year, Xinhua reports. Of those people, 160 million are rural migrant workers and 42.8 percent were born after 1980. Another 300 million people from rural areas are expected to move to work and live in cities and towns over the next three decades, Li said.

Beijing builds 8 new subway lines

Beijing began construction on eight new subway lines yesterday, which will add 113.7 km to the city's total subway mileage, Xinhua reports. China's first low-speed maglev line, Line S1, is also included in the project. The line will make China the second country to run such a train, after Japan. Line S1 is expected to be operational in 2013 with speeds of 100 to 120 km per hour.

GM recalls 233,000 cars in China

Shanghai General Motors Co. began recalling 232,931 cars in China Monday to fix faulty fuel lines, Xinhua reports. The recall covered 133,074 two-liter and 2.4-liter Regal sedans produced between Sep. 18, 2008 and Oct. 14, 2010, and 99,857 2.4-liter LaCrosse cars made between Apr. 20, 2009 and Oct. 14, 2010, said a statement from the company. The fault could cause the fuel pipe to break at the joints under extreme conditions and the engine could fail to start or stop working. The oil leaks could also spark fires. The after-sales service center at Shanghai General Motors will contact car owners to arrange repair work and its 800-820-2020 hotline offers counseling and reservation services.
