Typhoon Goni moves away from Hong Kong

Transport operations were back to normal on Wednesday morning after tropical storm Goni moved away and the local observatory downgraded its strong wind warnings before most of the people got up.

The strong wind signal, which had been No. 8 since Tuesday night, was downgraded to No. 3 at 3:40 a.m., and further downgraded to No. 1 at 5:40 a.m.

Ten people sought emergency medical help at local public hospitals, and only one of them was hospitalized but was in stable condition, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said in a report.

There were no reports of flooding, landslide or fallen trees.

An admission procedure for local high schools proceeded as scheduled on Wednesday.

The Airport Authority said two flights were canceled on Wednesday morning while two others were delayed due to the passage of the tropical storm, in addition to four flights canceled and 17 delayed late Tuesday.
