The meteorological station in Guangdong said the center of the storm, the seventh of its kind in China this year, was 230 km away south of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Tuesday morning, moving at the speed of 12 km per hour towards the province.

Guangdong and its neigboring provinces of Fujian and Hainan received downpour and strong winds Tuesday morning.

Maritime affairs department in Hainan said that it has issued an emergency warning to 20,000 fishing vessels in the South China Sea.

The meteorological station in Fujian forecast Tuesday morning that another tropical storm, Morakot, has formed on the West Pacific Ocean Tuesday morning. Moving at 10 km per hour, it is expected to be the eighth storm to approach China.
