Li Holds Talks with World Leaders, Diplomats

Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with world leaders and diplomats Tuesday on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora thanked China for its support and help, vowing his country will further strengthen and deepen the cooperation with China.

Li hailed the smooth development of relations between the two countries, pledging China is ready to deepen the cooperation with Lebanon in various fields.

When meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, Li said China will intensify cooperation with Spain in small and medium-sized enterprises, telecommunication, energy and investment in a bid to promote bilateral relations to a new high and push forward cooperation with Europe as a whole.

Moratinos expressed satisfaction with developing Spain-China relations and with the expanding economic and trade cooperation, saying Spain will intensify cooperation with China to promote the relations between Europe and China.

In their meeting Li and South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon said Chinese and South Korean foreign ministries will work together to turn the consensus of the leaders of the two countries into action, deepening the all-round cooperative partnership.

They also vowed their two countries will coordinate with parties concerned to facilitate a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.

Li also held talks with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and his six counterparts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

All the leaders and diplomats are satisfied with the current relations between China and the Arab countries, vowing to promote closer economic and trade cooperation.

Li also met his counterparts from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Egypt, Algeria, Slovenia, Georgia and Guinea-Bissau on bilateral relations.

During an informal meeting in the UN, Li, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh also exchanged views on the UN reforms, world anti-terror efforts, regional situation and other issues.
