| Alexeyev (1843-1909), commander-in-chief
of the Russian Pacific Fleet, assumed the power as commander-in-chief
of the Allied Forces in June and July 1900. On June 17, he ordered
the warships and marine corps of Russia, Britain, the United
States Japan, Germany and Italy to attack and capture Dagu fort,
the military fortress of the Qing Government for the defense
of Tianjin. After that, he directed the attack of Tianjin by
the Allied Forces. |
