| Edward Hobart Seymour (1840-1929),
vice admiral and commander-in-chief of the British Far East
Fleet. At the authorization of the Eight-Power Allied Forces
and the consuls of the powers in Tianjin, Seymour led an army
of 2,000 that landed at Tanggu, Tianjin, to advance toward Beijing
in the morning of June 10, 1900, thus launching a war against
China without declaration. |
