When the eighth Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Festival kicks off on Jun. 25, beautiful scenery in Sichuan – a famous historic spot of the Three Kingdoms (220-280) – will welcome tourists.

Guangyuan, an ancient city in northern Sichuan that is home to preserved towns, precipitous mountains and meandering rivers, will host the festival this time, the city government revealed Tuesday.

Equipped wholly with WiFi, the city enables tourists to download an app map that can provide specific information about the historic attractions, including Jianmen Pass, Tangjia River, ancient Qingxi and Zhaohua towns and Moon Gorge, even if their cell phones are offline. In addition, Guangyuan offers automatic cicerone service and can calculate the best travelling route for each individual request.

The "Bird's Path," a precipitous hill path that's 900 meters on a cliff and only 30 centimeters wide, will be open to tourists. However, for safety concerns, the accessible route is no more than half of its total length.

People who intend to visit Tangjia River should note that the natural conservation area does not allow private cars, but there will be sightseeing buses shuttling between the destinations.

The festival will last for nine days until July 3.
