Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will fight for the interests of developing countries at the G20 summit in Toronto this weekend, a paper said in Jakarta Thursday.

The statement was announced a day before he leaves Jakarta for an 11-day trip that will also stop in Ankara and Mecca.

Indonesia would make the issues relating with developing countries' needs to get attention from the G20 summit, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal was quoted by the Jakarta Post as saying.

"Indonesia will also underline the importance of preserving worldwide economic resilience, particularly when it comes to developing countries, which are very prone to financial crises," Dino said.

"We therefore need a Global Financial Safety Net as a second- line of defense, and will push for that in a continuous effort to perfect instruments from the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and the World Bank," said Dino.

President Yudhoyono was also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao, U.S. President Barack Obama, Vietnamese Prime Minister and ASEAN chairman Nguyen Tan Dung on the sidelines of the G20 summit, he said.

Yudhoyono and Obama would discuss efforts to develop a comprehensive partnership between the countries, especially in the education and environmental sectors, said Dino.

Upon completing his agenda in Toronto, Yudhoyono and his entourage will head to Ankara, where he will hold bilateral meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gull and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Yudhoyono is also scheduled to deliver a speech before the Turkish parliament, which is a rare privilege in Turkey, Dino said.

"The purpose of the Indonesian President's Turkish visit is to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economics, social, culture and tourism, as well as to discuss a number of regional and global issues,"he said.

Yudhoyono will be in Turkey from June 28 to July 1, and will conclude his Turkish visit by attending a business forum in Istanbul, which will be attended by 800 Turkish businesses.

From Istanbul, the President will head to Saudi Arabia. Yudhoyono will leave Medina on July 3 and is expected to arrive back in Jakarta on July 4.
