BAGHDAD, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Sunday held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, saying Iraq is ready to help Iran address the "consequences of the aggression" following recent Israeli attacks.
During the phone conversation, al-Sudani said that "Iraq considers Iran's security and stability to be integral to the security and stability of the entire region," according to a statement by al-Sudani's media office.
Al-Sudani underscored Iraq's keenness to prevent any further escalation of the conflict, noting the government's ongoing efforts on multiple fronts to prevent Israel's violations of Iraqi airspace, the statement said.
He also reiterated Iraq's readiness to "provide all necessary forms of assistance to address the consequences of the aggression against Iran, in line with the principles of solidarity that unite Islamic nations."
For his part, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of Islamic nations adopting a unified position to confront these Israeli acts of aggression and the blatant violations of international law, which pose a threat to other Islamic countries as well, the statement added. Enditem
