CAIRO/BAGHDAD, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein warned that Israel's military attacks on Iran mark a "dangerous escalation" that threatens to plunge the Middle East into deeper instability.
In phone conversations with his Italian and Spanish counterparts, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of de-escalating tensions and alleviating conflicts, noting that "no military solutions" work for regional crises.
The Egyptian top diplomat also reaffirmed Cairo's rejection of any violation of Iran's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, calling on all sides to prevent the conflict from spiraling further.
In his talks with Turkish and Omani foreign ministers, Abdelatty underscored the importance of upholding international law and the UN Charter, advocating for political and diplomatic efforts over military actions to address sources of instability.
Meanwhile, Iraqi foreign minister held a phone talk on Saturday with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during which they stressed the need to strengthen regional coordination amid regional tensions.
According to a statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, the two sides expressed concern over their potential repercussions on regional security and stability, emphasizing the importance of supporting the negotiation process related to the Iranian nuclear program. Enditem
