ASTANA, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan has intensified its geological exploration efforts, identifying 38 promising deposits of copper, nickel, coal, gold, and rare earth metals in the first quarter of 2025, the country's Kazinform news agency reported Friday.
According to the report, Kazakhstan's geological and geophysical surveys are projected to cover 2.2 million square kilometers by 2026, up from 2.014 million square kilometers in 2024.
In the first quarter of 2025, large-scale research activities were conducted nationwide, including aerial image analysis, field surveys, drilling, water sampling, radiation testing, as well as geochemical and desktop studies.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the newly discovered deposits contain approximately 2.6 million tonnes of rare earth metals, 1.1 billion tonnes of brown coal, 3.7 million tonnes of copper and nickel, and 19 tonnes of gold. Enditem
