CARACAS, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela and Uruguay have agreed to reestablish consular services between the two countries to better "serve" their citizens living abroad, Venezuela's Foreign Affairs Ministry announced Thursday.
"As a result of joint work between the two parties, it has been decided to reactivate the consular services of Uruguay in Caracas and of Venezuela in Montevideo in the coming days," the ministry said in a statement.
On July 30, 2024, the Venezuelan government decided to withdraw all its diplomatic personnel from several countries, including Uruguay, and demand the reciprocal withdrawal of their diplomats, as a way to denounce foreign interference.
"Venezuela expresses its firmest rejection of the interference and statements of a group of right-wing governments subordinate to Washington and openly committed to the most scandalous ideological postulations of international fascism," the country said at that time. Enditem
