BEIRUT, May 1 (Xinhua) -- One Lebanese and two Syrians were killed on Thursday in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement.
It said the Israeli army carried out a drone strike on a vehicle in Mays El Jabal, resulting in the casualties.
Meanwhile, the official National News Agency reported that "a hostile drone launched a strike on a scrap-collecting pickup truck between the villages of Mays El Jabal and Blida," and that Israeli warplanes were also "seen flying over the city of Hermel and villages in the northern Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon."
Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire brokered by the United States and France has been in effect between Hezbollah and Israel, bringing an end to more than a year of clashes triggered by the conflict in Gaza.
Despite the truce, the Israeli army continues to carry out near-daily strikes in Lebanon, claiming to be targeting Hezbollah "threats." It has also maintained its presence on five hilltops along the Lebanese border, in violation of the agreement. Enditem
