OTTAWA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Wednesday spoke with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, highlighting the country's economic ties with the European Union.
According to a readout issued by the prime minister's office, Carney emphasized Canada's role as a stable and reliable trading partner.
The leaders agreed to strengthen the close economic relationship between Canada and the European Union, said the readout.
Carney also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed their ongoing work to deepen defence and commercial ties between the two countries.
