DUBAI, April 30 (Xinhua) -- President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting Lebanon's national unity, sovereignty, and institutional stability.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE leader made the remarks during a meeting in Abu Dhabi with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who is paying his first official visit to the UAE since assuming office in January.
The two leaders discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest and exchanged views on the importance of strengthening peace and stability across the region, the report said.
Sheikh Mohamed stressed that the recent reopening of the UAE embassy in Beirut reflects the country's commitment to supporting Lebanon and marks a new chapter in bilateral ties.
For his part, Aoun thanked the UAE leader for the warm reception and expressed appreciation for the UAE's longstanding support for Lebanon. He emphasized his country's desire to deepen cooperation with the UAE across various sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations, WAM reported.
The UAE reopened its embassy in Beirut in January as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic engagement with Lebanon. Enditem
