WARSAW, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Leaders from more than 20 countries gathered in Warsaw on Tuesday for the 10th Three Seas Initiative summit, marking a decade of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation across Central and Eastern Europe.
The event, hosted by Polish President Andrzej Duda at the Royal Castle, brought together presidents from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Latvia, and the prime minister of Croatia and ministers from Greece, Spain, and Turkey.
"The past decade has turned an ambitious idea into reality," Duda said, describing the initiative's evolution from a strategic concept into a platform for regional cooperation.
Since its launch in 2015, the Three Seas Initiative has expanded significantly. It now includes 21 participating countries, 140 priority infrastructure and energy projects, two investment funds, and a growing network of public-private and regional partnerships.
Duda emphasized that the initiative remains focused on regional energy security and cross-border infrastructure integration - priorities that have become even more urgent amid ongoing geopolitical instability.
The summit coincided with the 2025 Three Seas Business Forum, which aims to foster closer cooperation between governments and the private sector to unlock new economic opportunities. In his speech, Duda pointed to these emerging opportunities, especially in areas such as nuclear energy and dual-use infrastructure, as key to building resilience and promoting regional development.
The meeting concluded with a joint declaration reaffirming the Three Seas Initiative's core values of unity, connectivity, and transatlantic cooperation. The declaration underscored member states' continued commitment to market-oriented reforms, democratic principles, and integration across the Baltic, Black, and Adriatic seas. Enditem
