CAIRO, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani held a phone conversation on Tuesday, during which they categorically rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands.
According to a statement released by the Egyptian Presidency, al-Sisi and al-Sudani also emphasized the importance of implementing the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza during the phone conversation.
Regarding the situation in Syria, the two leaders stressed the need to preserve Syria's unity, stability, and territorial integrity, read the statement.
Both sides also discussed the preparations for the 34th Arab League summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad on May 17, and reviewed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, and investment, read the statement.
Al-Sudani stressed Iraq's commitment to fostering a unified Arab stance on regional issues, primarily the Palestinian cause, read the statement.
Meanwhile, al-Sudani's media office said on social media platform X that the two leaders stressed in the phone conversation "the need for cooperation between the various parties to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip, and to support dialogues to establish regional security and stability." Enditem
