BAGHDAD, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Tuesday offered his condolences to the victims of the massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran.
During a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, al-Sudani expressed Iraq's solidarity with the families of the victims and affirmed Iraq's full readiness to provide any urgent medical assistance needed to treat the injured, according to a statement issued by al-Sudani's media office.
He also conveyed "heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people and sincere wishes for the swift recovery of the wounded," it added.
The death toll from a huge blast and the subsequent fire at Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan on Saturday has reached 65, with over 1,200 others injured, Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency reported Monday, citing the provincial governor. Enditem
