DAR ES SALAAM, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Overseas Chinese in Tanzania have vowed to continue promoting national reunification and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
On Sunday afternoon, they made the pledge in the port city of Dar es Salaam while commemorating the 20th anniversary of the enforcement of China's Anti-Secession Law.
Two decades ago, the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, voted to adopt the Anti-Secession Law with an overwhelming majority.
Chen Mingjian, Chinese ambassador to Tanzania, said overseas Chinese will continue to be a crucial force in curbing separatist forces and promoting peaceful reunification.
"Overseas Chinese in Tanzania have a proud tradition of opposing division and defending unity. We must resolutely resist the false 'Taiwan independence narrative' and the trend of 'de-Sinicization,' continue to unite Chinese communities, carry forward outstanding traditional culture, and strengthen our sense of national, cultural, and state identity, working together to build a shared spiritual home for the Chinese nation," said Chen.
She noted that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have worked hard and successfully forged a path of modernization with Chinese characteristics, ushering in a bright future for national rejuvenation.
Feng Zhenyu, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Tanzania, urged fellow overseas Chinese to take the commemorative event as an opportunity to continue to play the role of overseas reunification promotion organizations as a bridge for uniting more overseas Chinese and contribute to the advancement of the peaceful reunification process of the motherland.
Feng said the compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are connected by blood, adding that the reunification of the motherland is a historical trend and the common wish of all Chinese people. Enditem
