The InfoComm Federation of Brunei (IFB) and Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) have strengthened the collaboration in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Monday.

This MOU pledges both associations to promoting closer co- operation and knowledge exchange pertaining to various aspects of international and regional ICT in the public and private sectors.

KTOA was founded in 1996, to promote mutual cooperation, self- regulation and fair competition, along with pursuing healthy growth of communication service by actively responding to business environment changes within Korean and overseas through strengthening cooperation and ties among communication telecom operators.

The MOU defines the framework within which both organizations would be able to explore opportunities to strengthen and facilitate business collaborations between Brunei Darussalam and South Korea. The intent is to mutually promote furthering growth in the ICT industry and explore strategies to build a desirable partnership through exchange of regular visit programs, meetings and information.

Under the MOU, both parties have a mutual understanding to collaborate in several areas for the next two years where joint expertise, resources, research activities and combined efforts can accelerate progress towards mutual goals.

These areas include first exchange of data, information and publications, secondly, assistance in international and domestic events, exhibition and various work activities, and thirdly, organize and/or participate meetings and facilitate exchange of information; and joint research and development of ICT issues.

"This MOU represents a good opportunity for a mutual exchange of information and initiatives with our esteemed counterparts from Korea, one of the leading ICT countries in the world. We very much look forward to formulating some exciting projects in the near future," the IFB chairman stated in his press statement.

The InfoComm Federation Brunei is a non-profit national body, officially formed on Aug. 15, 2007, dedicated to growing and nurturing the ICT Industry in Brunei Darussalam. Endi
