World pours in condemnation of Kunming terror attack

World countries and international organizations on Monday and Tuesday poured in condemnation of Saturday's severe terror attack at a railway station in Kunming, China, in which 29 people were killed and 143 others wounded.

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Swiss Federal President Didier Burkhalter,Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe and Seychellois President James Alix Michel sent their messages of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping, condemning in strong terms the violent terror attack in Kunming.

They threw their weight behind the Chinese government in the fight against all forms of terrorism and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims as well as the Chinese government and people.

"I want to emphasize that there are no excuses for crimes against humanity," Nazarbayev said in his message. "The international community must work together to neutralize these threats."

Prime Minister of Laos Thongsing Thammavong and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta sent condolences to their Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, on the Kunming knife-wielding attack.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) expressed deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families, as well as to the Chinese people and government, SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev said in a statement on Monday.

All forms of terrorism and violence against civilians are criminal. The international community should further cooperate to combat terrorism and extremism in any form, the statement said.

Belarus has also expressed support for China in the fight against separatism and extremism.

"Belarus opposes terrorism in any of its manifestations and condemns the cruel terrorist attack at the railway station of Kunming, Yunnan Province, China that led to a big number of victims," Belarusian Foreign Ministry press secretary Dmitry Mironchik said.

"We express our sincere condolences and support to the families and loved ones of the victims," Mironchik said.

South Africa, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Iran, Turkey, Oman, Bahrain, Israel, Ukraine, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Mali, Mauritania, Barbados, and the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed condolences to China through statements or diplomatic channels.

They blasted the horrific attack in Kunming and voiced opposition to all forms of terrorism.?
