Leaders of Kazakhstan and China will discuss a wide range of issues during their upcoming meeting here to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, a Kazakh expert said.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping will discuss an array of issues, ranging from cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, transport, culture and agriculture, to cooperation in the construction of roads and railways, as well as aviation, said Ruslan Izimov, an expert from the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, in a recent interview with Xinhua.

He said the two leaders' meeting will yield important agreements, memorandums and contracts.

Topping their agenda would be discussion of plans to boost trade and economic cooperation as the two countries aim to increase the volume of bilateral trade to 40 billion U.S. dollars by 2015, Izimov said.

A hot topic for discussion would center on oil and gas agreements, the expert added, highlighting the fact that Chinese companies have recently gained access to Caspian oil fields in Kazakhstan after lengthy negotiations, making China one of the largest official developers of Kashagan oil field.

Both sides are likely to clinch a state-level agreement during Xi's visit, Izimov said.

Cooperation in the construction of roads and railways, as well as in the field of aviation, needs to be enhanced to back the creation of a transport route from western China to Europe via Kazakhstan, Izimov said.

It would be logical to use Chinese territory as transit routes for exporting Kazakh agricultural products, such as wheat, to world markets, he noted.

Xi is paying state visits to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on Sept. 3-13, at the invitations of his counterparts of those countries.

Xi will hold talks with the four heads of state, and meet prime ministers and parliamentary leaders of host countries, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping said, stressing the great importance of Xi's visits, his first to Central Asia after taking office.
