China Railway International says it is ready to contribute more to Guinea's development after launching a project in June.

The director of China Railway International, Mao Mao, expressed desire to build railways in the West African country in talks with Guinean President Alpha Conde on Friday.

"We are the biggest company in Asia in terms of infrastructure construction and the third in the world. We want to help in the development of the Guinean state," Mao told reporters on a later occasion.

"For the Guinean state to develop, she needs a lot of infrastructure, and especially the railway lines and we have a lot of experience in this area," Mao added.

According to the director, both sides have agreed on the construction of a 40-km railway line, a project whose feasibility study is underway. The construction work is to begin on June 15.
