The recent state visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to China could be regarded as a remarkable new page in the strengthening of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation, Russian experts and scholars said Wednesday.

Sergei Luzyanin, deputy director of the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said the two state leaders' signing of two important joint statements, one on the bilateral ties and the other on the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II, demonstrated the two countries' common stance toward issues like developing the bilateral relationship, sustaining the world peace and stability, as well as fighting against terrorism.

In the economic cooperation sphere, Luzyanin said, Russian and China also signed a number of agreements, especially in energy and investment sectors.

More mutual investments between China and Russia will surely enhance the two nations' economic cooperation, the scholar stressed.

Yuri Demochkin, deputy head of Russian-Chinese Economy and Investment Cooperation Center, told Xinhua that this visit was not only a regular meeting between the two leaders, but more importantly, it was a sum-up of the Sino-Russian cooperation for the past decade and a positive signal for the bright future.

The Sino-Russian joint oil pipeline project, which has been completed and started operation, would bring some opportunities and speed up the bilateral cooperation in other sectors, Demochkin noted.

Besides, China can share with Russia its rich experience in building and developing high-tech parks, he added.

Medvedev wrapped up Tuesday his three-day visit to China, where he visited Dalian, Beijing and Shanghai.
