It is expected the "red-shirts'" shift from Phan Fah Bridge to Rathchaprasong Intersection will finish by midnight Wednesday, Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Maj- General Phanu Kerdlapphol said.

After the shift, police officers will examine areas along the Rajadamnern Road, next to the Phan Fah Bridge, Thai News Agency quoted the Metropolitan Police deputy chief as saying.

Also, involved agencies will clean the area on the Phan Fah Bridge after the shift is completed, he said.

By Thursday, the traffic areas on the Phan Fah Bridge will be available for the general public again after having been occupied by the "red-shirts" from early March, the Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief as saying.

His statement was made after the "red-shirts" announced they are going to abandon the Phan Fah Bridge and their main gathering site will be held only at the Rathchaprasong Intersection.

Hence, it is expected the traffic situation on streets around the Rathchaprasong Intersection will negatively be affected by the "red shirts" gathering, he said.

The general public should closely monitor the traffic situation, said the Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief.

The "red-shirts" have demanded Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva "immediately" dissolve the lower House of parliament and hold a new general election.

The "red-shirts" have still viewed that, apart from the House dissolution, there is no other solution to the country's ongoing political conflict.

The Rathchaprasong Intersection is one main business area in capital Bangkok since a lot of shopping malls are located in this area.
