China to promote trade with ROK

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping Thursday put forward a four-point proposal to promote trade with the Republic of Korea (ROK) at a luncheon held by the country's business community.

First, the two countries should stabilize trade and investment, Xi said.

China welcomed ROK entrepreneurs to participate in China's strategy in developing its central and west regions and improving the industrial base in northeast region, and also supported its enterprises to make investment in the ROK, he added.

Xi stressed the two sides should properly handle trade friction, and oppose protectionism on trade and investment.

Second, the two sides should strive for a win-win outcome by using their respective advantages, Xi said.

China has a large market while the ROK takes lead in high-tech and enterprise management, said Xi. He urged the two countries to drawn on each other's strengths and explore cooperation on energy saving, environmental protection, telecommunication, finance, logistics and service trade.

Third, the two countries should strengthen international trade cooperation, Xi said. The two sides should, while seizing the opportunity of post-financial crisis to explore international market and seek new approach to regional integration process, he noted.

Fourth, Xi said both sides should enhance cooperation on low-carbon economy. He proposed that the two countries focus on joint research and substantial cooperation on low-carbon technology and circular economy.

Xi pledged to work with the ROK government to create a better environment for entrepreneurs of both countries.

More than 500 ROK entrepreneurs and trade officials attended the luncheon.

The ROK is the second leg of Xi's four-nation Asian tour. He concluded his visit to Japan Wednesday night and will travel to Myanmar and Cambodia after his visit to ROK.
