Most workers at a supplier of Foxconn, the world's largest electronics contractor, in east China's Jiangxi Province have returned to work after being promised a pay raise.
About 90 percent of the assembly line has resumed production at Xin Hai Yang Precision Components Co., located in Fengcheng City, workers told Xinhua Tuesday.
A worker surnamed Cai said the company has promised workers a 10-percent pay raise, but it still needs to be approved by the parent company.
Cai said she works 10-and-a-half hours a day and earns 2,200 yuan (349.2 U.S. dollars) a month. The dorm conditions are rather poor, with more than 10 people sharing one room, she added.
More than 1,000 workers reportedly staged a strike last week, protesting low wages, unequal pay raises, bad canteen meals and dorm conditions, and harsh management.
A security guard at the company's gate said in most cases, workers are only allowed to leave the company for an hour and a half, at noon and in the evening, respectively.
The company declined an interview.
The city government in Fengcheng, however, said more than 100 workers -- not the widely reported 1,000 workers -- took part in the labor strike on Friday.
