President Xi Jinping will travel to the UN headquarters in New York later this week, to attend summits marking the bloc's 70th anniversary. This comes at the invitation of UN chief Ban Ki-moon. For the occasion, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has released a comprehensive introduction of China's stance on major UN issues.

Keepers of peace and development. The document highlights the UN's irreplaceable role in promoting peace and security, development and human rights, calling the UN the most representative inter-governmental international organization.

The paper calls on member states to defend the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. It advocates following the concept of sustainable development to promote democratization and legalization of international relations.

The report also stresses building win-win cooperation as the core of the new international relations to develop a community of human destiny.

China is not only one of the UN's founding members, but also one of the first countries to sign the UN charter.

It is also one of the permanent member states of the Security Council.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Baodong says China plays an active role in supporting and contributing to the UN's work on the global scene.

"We will continue to encourage the international community to support the multilateral society, to strengthen the role of the United Nations, to maintain the international system and order with the focus on the UN charter, to build the new type of international relations based on win-win cooperation as a core," Li said.

During his visit to the UN headquarters, President Xi will attend the general assembly debate, development summit... as well as the Chinese-proposed global women summit and round table summit for South-South cooperation.
