President Xi has delivered a speech at the opening of the 9th G20 Summit. Xi urged the world's largest economies to improve economic reform, implement a strategy of growth, and help the global economy progress from periodic recovery to sustainable growth.

President Xi made the speech, entitled "Promoting innovative development and realizing overall economic growth", on Saturday afternoon. He stressed that China will maintain its momentun of economic growth and make a greater contribution to the world economy.

Xi said the world economy has been climbing out of the doldrums in recent years, but problems still remain: the recovering has not been satisfactory; risks are in the financial market; international trade has been staggering at a low level.

He stressed the priority now is to coordinate macro-economic strategies, solve difficuilties in their development, and reduce financial risk.

The Chinese President said the G20 members attach great importance to the role of infrastructure in fuelling the global economy. He said that China fully supports a global infrastracture center and stressed the World Bank should set up a global infrastructure fund. China would make its contribution to this through the establishment of a Silk Road economic belt, a Silk Road fund, a 21st century maritime "silk road", and an Asian Infrastructure investment bank.

Meanwhile, he proposed to build an open, world economy. Member states should maintain a multi-lateral trade system, foster a big global market, and oppose trade and investment protestionism.

He added that all countries should be committed to a just, inclusive and orderly international financial system, where emerging economies and developing countries had a greater representation.

And last, but not least, Xi pointed out that the G20 members should foster a sense for "win-win" development, where each country had the right to develop but should allow others to develop too.

The members should all make efforts to make the G20 the world's engine for economic development, Xi added.

Leaders from other countries also expressed their willingness to cooperate and push the global economy forward. They came to the consensus that they should initiate stable financial monetary policies, enhance infrastructure, overcome economic deadlocks and join to fight against unstable elements like the Ebola virus.

They also spoke highly of China's tremendous contribution to the global economy, especially its efforts at transforming its economic strategy.
