Many people have been making the most of the past week off to do some travelling. Chinese tourists are swarming not only within the country but also beyond the borders. While some may appreciate the beauty of nature, others are in search of cultural immersion.

Chinese becoming Metropolitan Museum of Art's largest visitor group?

As one of the largest museums in the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which houses over 2 million art pieces, is a must-see for tourists in New York.

Last May, when two Chinese tour groups met in the same exhibition hall, the guides tried to out do each other through volume. One of them, in order to give a vivid presentation of the fresco on display, even sang an extract of Peking opera.

You could certainly say Chinese tourists know how to make an impression. But luckily, that's not the only dimension staff at the museum see.

"Chinese are the number one, the most foreign visitors... they are enthusiastic." said one of the staff, Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Visitors to the museum are reminded to stay quiet and show respect to art pieces. Running around and touching the exhibits are prohibited.

"We're not only afraid that things would break... and move along very very slowly." said the staff of Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It's only expected visitors will get snappy happy, to share the experience with friends and family. The museum simply asks for the flash to be turned off.

"I think things have changed in technology... so turn your flash off."

And what about the little ones in tow? Keeping the children quiet, well, parents have tricks up their sleeves.

"We'll find something that keeps her interest, like the candy in her hands. When something distracts her, she'll quit crying." said Mr Mo, Visitor from Shanghai.

The museum offers plenty of places to rest. And audio guides and maps in many languages, including Chinese, are also available.
