Seeing "A Boat Road" on the map of Lanzhou, an overseas student decided to retrieve its origins and obtained the answer from a senior citizen. A thousand years ago, businessmen from southern China brought tea, salt and silk to Lanzhou and contributed much to the city's construction. However, when they died, they could not return to their homes. The cemetery where they were buried was built in the shape of a boat to convey the message that their souls could go sail home.
