How do you top a classic romance blockbuster like Titanic? You can make a 3D version from it. And it's now being shown across China.

Movie theaters across the country are bracing themselves for a wave of movie-goers looking to relive the timeless romance.

The timeless romance story is bringing back old memories and new sensations. Titanic is making a comeback to China 14 years after its original release. The difference - it's now in 3D.

But for many Chinese viewers, it's been well worth the wait. "It's been a really thrilling experience watching Titanic in 3D. When the ship sank, I almost felt like I was on board."

"I can't believe it's been transformed from 2D. The added 3D effects are great. The story is a classic and the fresh visual impact is just the icing on the cake."

Titanic director James Cameron has high hopes for his latest work, and he has all the reasons to be. Before the advent of Transformers 2, it had been the highest-grossing film in the country, raking in 360 million yuan in 1998. But not everybody is as impressed.

"The 3D version's supposed to make me feel I'm part of the action. But I didn't think it's very different from the 2D version."

While so far reactions are mixed, Titanic's 3D conversion has had no problem in securing a turn-out, already shoring up more than $260,000 from just 62 debut Imax runs in China. For many move fans, the sentimental value of the film trumps any technological twist.
