Designer Giambattista Valli, Stella McCartney and Christophe Lemaire offered a visual feast of different styles for their fall and winter collections.

At Paris Fashion week on Monday, Giambattista Valli showed-off his ready-to-wear collection.

It started with black and white and eventually broke out into patterns reminiscent of the 1930s, featuring Valli's inimitable take on contrasting materials and textures, as well as trompe l'oeil effects.

Silhouettes varied from dresses clinched at the waist to boxy jackets and cropped pants to long gowns with bows at the neck, similar in style to what Emma Stone wore on the Oscar red carpet.

The designer says he was inspired by New York urbanity.

Giambattista Valli said, "I started up as an idea like almost like one of my friend in New York like going downtown, running the dog in Central Park or whatever like this kind of boldish (bold) kind of attitude almost like Lolita girl going uptown and putting on over sweaters, over coat, over almost like a denim skirt with a sweater over with flat, sleepers or like the shoes from the night before."

With a nod to the 2012 Olympics, Stella McCartney went to the heart of the English countryside in a sporty fall-winter ready-to-wear show that mixed posh furniture patterns with stretchy tweeds and zippers.

Softer knitwear provided a halftime break from the sporty look. A cardigan dress twin-set in soft washed out blue, and the hourglass shape knit with bulky bottoms.

McCartney says she took inspiration from winter.

Stella McCartney said, "Winter for me is always an outdoor experience."

French label Hermes brought the wandering nomad to its catwalk for next season, in a collection rich with textures, androgyny and with nearly every look topped off with a trilby.

Designer Christophe Lemaire brought his latest Pret-A-Porter collection to Paris Fashion Week on Sunday. He paid tribute to the French house's equestrian roots, with women looking like men in looks ranging from a severely structured suit to a casual cashmere jumper.

And its not over yet, with more shows expected from Chanel and Alexander McQueen, and Louis Vuitton closing out the show on Wednesday.
