On the heels of the Academy Awards, Los Angeles is playing host to an Entertainment Technology Expo, to bring together budding directors and oscar nominated cinematographers. The event provides the perfect forum for filmmakers to chat about their latest cameras, editing software and techniques - all under the same roof.

Held at LA Centre Studios in downtown Los Angeles, the industry summit, made up of top entertainment, technical innovators and content experts, is showcasing tomorrow's media technologies.

Kristin Petrovich Kennedy, President of Createsphere, said "We have world class content creators here today. Producers, directors, visual effects people and cinematographers all gathering to learn about the next in technology and the tools in the trade."

Content creators and managers are also discussing and sharing the latest trends and products including, the newest cameras used for film making, post production, new video editing software and advertising.

Some say today's big trend in the movie business is digital cinema cameras, which is said to be transforming the entire movie business.

Jeff Cronenweth, ASC Oscar- nominated cinematographer, said "I see that the future is changing more in that way but I had always hoped that there would be a balance of both and we would have an opportunity as storytellers to decide what medium best served each story we were going to tell. I hope that film stays around as long as it can but in the event it doesn't, it certainly is the lineage to everything that we have ever done and it's our history in this industry."

Video demonstrations with audience participation included the unveiling of the newest digital movie cameras. This one might look like a smaller version of a regular studio camera, but after a multitude of lenses are added, it grows to four times its size.

Another trend is the advancement of workstations. This is the world's first all-in-one workstation and comes in at only 27 inches. The monitor opens up storing interchangeable computer components. It can be used on travelling movie sets for editing, animation, illustration or visual effects or anyone who wants to create original digital content on the go.The products are geared towards Hollywood but can be used by anyone.
