When the sun sets in Old Beijing, the expats come out and play. Red lanterns shine warm light on grey streets and buildings - giving the city an ancient feel. It's an aesthetic that foreigners in China's capital admire and appreciate. As a result, many cafes and bars have opened in the hutongs around Jiugulou Dajie and Gulou Dajie, drawing people from around the world to come out after dark.
