The men's clay court season is in full swing at Monte Carlo. Number one seed Rafael Nadal had to come back against Andy Murray in one semi-final of the Monte Carlo Masters on Saturday. David Ferrer and Jurgen Melzer met in the other one.

First let's go to Murray and top seed Nadal Murray underwent treatment for an arm injury before the match.

But it was no reason for concern as the action got underway. Murray showed no ill effects in the opening set and opened a 4-1 lead on Nadal.

But the six-time defending champion denied Murray by breaking his serve in the next game. Nadal came all the way back and grabbed the opening set 6-4.

Murray did not fade during the second set. He broke the Nadal serve in the third game and again in the fifth to take another 4-1 lead.

This time, the third seed stayed solid and won the set in style. Nadal didn't even try to reach the drop shot...they'd play a decider in the semi-final.

Murray trailed 2-love in the third, and asked for treatment for his arm again. He was refused, and was unhappy at the response. The Brit lost another game to Nadal.

He eventually received treatment at the changeover, but had to climb out of a deep hole to get back into the match.

Murray seemed to struggle from that point on. Nadal eventually won the set 6-1 and claimed his place in the final.

Rafael Nadal, Into Monte Carlo Masters Final, said, "Probably I didn't play my best tennis this afternoon on clay but winning a seventh semi-final in a row here is more than a dream. It's a fantastic victory because it's more important to win when you are not playing the best than when you are playing fastastically."

In the other semi, fourth seed David Ferrer took on Jurgen Melzer in a tricky looking matchup.

Melzer beat Roger Federer in the quarter-finals, but Ferrer was on fire. He jumped out to a decisive lead.

Ferrer held serve at love and took the first set 6-3.

Melzer threatened Ferrer's serve in the second game of the second set, but the Australian Open semi-finalist held on.

Melzer ended this rally by hitting long and Ferrer won a key service break in the seventh game of the second set.

Ferrer served for the match, and won it on his second match point. He beat Melzer after one hour and eighteen minutes.

It is Ferrer's second Masters final. He lost the Rome Masters on clay to Nadal last year.
