In international film news... Drama "The King's Speech" led the film nominations for Golden Globe awards on Tuesday with seven nods in key categories, including Best Film Drama. Close behind with six nominations each were boxing film "The Fighter" and Facebook movie "The Social Network," which also claimed spots among the Best Film Drama nominees.

Rounding out the list of five contenders in that important category were "Inception" and "The Black Swan." Each of those movies also had four nominations.

In other major film categories, nominees for best actor in a film drama category include Jesse Eisenberg for "The Social Network" and Colin Firth for "King's Speech." They are joined by James Franco in "127 hours," Ryan Gosling for "Blue Valentine" and Mark Wahlberg in "The Fighter."

Best film drama actress nominees were Halle Berry in "Frankie and Alice," Nicole Kidman for "Rabbit Hole," Jennifer Lawrence in "Winter's Bone," Natalie Portman for "Black Swan" and Michelle Williams in "Blue Valentine."

An unscientific sampling of critics-group winners and entertainment pundits reveals "The Kids Are All Right" and "How Do I Know" lead the pack of contenders in the category of Comedy or Musical.

But the rest of the field appears to be wide open.

Director Tim Burton's lavish "Alice in Wonderland" looks as if it may make the cut in the top comedy-or-musical category, as well as for actor Johnny Depp.

Though "Burlesque" was widely panned, the presence of Globes favorite Cher could propel it to the list of five comedy-or-musical pictures. If nothing else, the film is almost certain to get a nod for Cher's big ballad, "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me."

It's the same deal with "Casino Jack," which is a long shot in the comedy-or-musical category.

Last-minute critics-group screenings could hurt "Country Strong," but a much-praised musical performance by Gwyneth Paltrow means its star is not likely to be denied a nomination for best comedy-or-musical actress.

Moving on to the animated film category... "Toy Story 3" was among this year's five film nominees.

Others in the animated film category this year: "Despicable Me," "How To Train Your Dragon," "Tangled," and the French film "The Illusionist."

The Golden Globes will be handed out January the 16th.
