Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said, "China's stability and development is conducive to a more peaceful international environment, a more democratic international order, a more prosperous global economy, and a more harmonious and civilized world. China's development is an opportunity to the world, and the world stands to gain from a China that is better off. History will continue to prove this. A china that is developed peacefully, a China that is full of vigor and vitality, and a China that is willing and ready to fulfill its responsibilities will always move forward together with the world. Let us join in hands to work for a world that is full of peace and prosperity."

Wen says China is still a developing country, whose per capita gross domestic product is only one tenth of that of developed countries. China's further development is constrained by the shortage of resources, as well as energy and environmental consequences.

Wen says despite challenges and difficulties, China will intensify cooperation with fellow developing countries and remain good partners and brothers of developing countries. China will continue to firmly support the leading role of the UN and international affairs. China will abide by the UN charter and fulfill good faith and obligations under international conventions.

Wen also stresses China's development is peaceful and will not harm or threaten any other countries.

This is the second time for Wen to take the podium at an annual general debate of the UN General Assembly since 2008's attendance. The debate serves as an important area for all countries to frankly exchange views and reach consensus, and boost solidarity among themselves to jointly build a good future.
