Chocolate is many people's favorite treat. As Chinese New Year falls on the western Valentine's Day this year, Willy Wonka's chocolate factory will become a reality during the Spring Festival holiday.

Residents and travelers in Beijing will be able to visit Chocolate Wonderland, China's first chocolate theme park, starting January 29. It is located at the square just north of the Bird's Nest.

The theme park uses more than 80,000 kilograms of chocolate and features both historical and contemporary designs. Chocolate replicas include everything from the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors to BMW cars and cartoon characters.

Zheng Yaoting, one of the park's managers and initiators, said the exhibition allows tourists to learn about the history of chocolate as well as the importance chocolate takes in various cultures around the world.

"People love chocolate. The first Chinese person to have eaten chocolate should have been the fourth emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong," Zheng said. Emperor Qianlong lived from September 25, 1711 to February 7, 1799.

The park will be open until April. Tickets to Chocolate Wonderland cost 80 yuan for adults and 60 yuan for the elderly and other concessionary groups.

Chen Yaoyao, a doctoral student from Beijing Institute of Technology, told China.org.cn of his plans to go to the chocolate exhibition. "I will go with my girlfriend. I think it's a very romantic place!"

Tsinghua student Li Feiran commented, "The park is the first one in China and it's China's version of Willy Wanka's chocolate factory. Of course I will go! It will be fantastic!"

China.org.cn's Li Xiaohua also plans to visit the exhibition and will take her one-year-old daughter with her. "I think both my baby and I will love the park. It's worth spending 80 yuan on to experience the new Wonderland," Li said.

"I hope we can taste some chocolate there, that would be great."
