Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang continues to visit New Zealand and has met with both the country's Prime Minister John Key and Deputy Prime Minister Bill English.

 

During a meeting with John Key on Monday, Li Keqiang said China and New Zealand expanded cooperation in many areas such as politics, economy and culture. He says they are communicating and coordinating on major global and regional issues. The smooth implementation of the China-New Zealand free trade agreement is helping to promote bilateral trade.

Key says New Zealand values its comprehensive cooperative relationship with China. The prime minister looks forward to visiting China and attending the Shanghai Expo next year.

Later Monday, Li held talks with New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister Bill English. Li praised New Zealand's government for its positions on issues concerning China. Li specified five areas where China and New Zealand could further strengthen their cooperation. Those include continuous efforts to fully implement a free trade pact and strengthen cooperation in environmental protection and resource development between enterprises in both countries.

English, says his country is committed to consolidating a sound relationship with China, and the free trade agreement was crucial for his country to expand exports.

Li Keqiang arrived in New Zealand on Sunday after concluding an official visit to Australia. In New Zealand, he visited Christchurch before traveling to Wellington and is also scheduled to visit Auckland.
