China has joined the global celebration of the 50th anniversary of the world's most popular fashion doll, Barbie. The iconic doll was given a grand birthday bash at the World Art Museum of the China Millennium Monument in downtown Beijing.

Barbie may be 50 years old, but the slim and fashionable icon could never be just another middle-aged woman. After five decades as a reflection of fashion trends, pop culture and aspirations, Barbie is still looking good and going strong.

For the first time, a big display featuring every incarnation of Barbie was shown in China. Chinese fans were able to see about two thousand Barbie dolls from 139 collections, including Princess, Wedding, Holiday angel and the Hollywood series. Beijing is one stop on the exhibition's global tour.

Barbie was introduced to China just nine years ago, unleashing Barbie mania. She's won favor not only from kids but also from those who are well into their 20s.

But many people in China barely know anything about Barbie except for her pretty image and signature pink. This exhibition provides a good chance for Chinese Barbie fans to get closer to the adorable beauty.
