Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao says he requires a transparent process both for deciding the government's major economic policies, and for enforcing them.

He added the public should be involved, informed and allowed to supervise the implementation. Wen was speaking after meeting with financial experts from Beijing. Pan Deng has more.

The Premier's meeting with leaders from the business sector comes after the central government's announcement of a massive 4-trillion yuan stimulus package.

The huge plan will effect almost all aspects of China's economy. Wen Jiabao said it's important that their voices are heard.

Premier Wen said the changing world economy, especially the recent global financial crisis, has added new difficulties to making and implementing policy. He said decisions can no longer be made based on people's impulses, but require a thorough understanding of both the domestic and international situation.

Wen Jiabao said that, as a result, decision-making must be transparent and the public's wisdom and opinions must be taken into account. He said the public's political involvement should be expanded in a gradual and orderly way.

Wen Jiabao also said the current policies have played a crucial role in stimulating the development of China's economy. And he called on governments at all levels to serve businesses more fully.
